About the SVAMITVA Scheme
- Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas is the full name of SVAMITVA.
- The Revenue Department / Land Records Department, in collaboration with the State Panchayati Raj Department and the Nodal Ministry, will endeavour to achieve the scheme's goals in each state.
- The scheme's major goal is to offer rural India with a comprehensive property certification solution.
- SVAMITVA is a Sanskrit word that means " The government will issue property cards to landowners, and for the delineation of rural abadi regions, drone surveying technology and Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) will be deployed.
- This will allow homeowners to keep their homes in populated regions and utilise them as collateral for loans or other financial obligations.
- Drone mapping of places will be done progressively in all villages over a four-year period, beginning in 2020 and concluding in 2024.
- Only six states are now covered by the scheme: Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
- The initiative is supported by the country's central government, with Rs 79.65 crores set out for the project's trial phase.
What exactly is an SVAMITVA card?
SVAMITVA property cards will be created for each landowner under the Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas initiative.
This will allow them to produce an official document to financial institutions in the event that their land/property is ever used as an asset.
